Farrah Abraham is a big fan of plastic surgery, but when the Teen Mom star’s lip procedure went terribly wrong, she turned to E!’s Botched docs for some serious help.

“I was embarrassed to walk in there,” Abraham tells PEOPLE of first visiting doctors Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif for help after complications from an attempted lip implant by another doctor landed her in the hospital.

“Admitting that I messed up on something that I love to do was a little harsh for me to confront at first,” she says. “But I think it was good to share my story because it was on national headlines and news, so I wanted to show others so they don’t have the same complications.”

Abraham initially went in for a lip implant but knew right away something was wrong: “The anesthesia, nothing was working,” she recalls.

“I could feel everything, and it was hurting in a crazy way, and my lip was blowing up as I was sitting there,” continues Abraham, 24. “I’m like, ‘Okay, you guys need to shoot me with something to get this out of my body because I am clearly having some type of a reaction,’ and it was scaring me.”

After spending a night in the hospital, Abraham turned to Dubrow and Nassif to help correct the problem.

“I was just very thankful for Dr. Dubrow’s assistance,” says Abraham following the scary ordeal. “I was sweating bullets with him just close to me with the needle, but overcoming the fear was like the greatest day of my life because I’m such a supporter of cosmetic and plastic surgery.”

Abraham is such a big plastic surgery enthusiast that she’s even planning a career in the line of work.

“I am starting licensing around January and then want to work up through cosmetics, aesthetics, everything up to plastic surgery and my Ph.D.,” she says. “I’m just trying to do it and live it my best and that’s where I want to potentially be.”

As for any more plastic surgery plans? Abraham wants to keep it to a minimum.

“I really love fillers for me, and for my body type they do wonders, but there is no huge surgery that I need,” she says. “Just keeping up with preventatives for me and preventing wrinkles and aging because I really love being the 24 that I am right now.”
