Farrah Abraham has no regrets.

The Teen Mom alum, 33, spoke exclusively with PEOPLE ahead of her Diary of a Teen Mom comedy debut in New York City earlier this month, when she shared the one thing she would have told her younger self while she was filming MTV’s 16 and Pregnant.

"That girl, all she needs to know is it's okay to be a young mom. It's actually better than being an older parent. Sorry, older parents," Abraham, who welcomed daughter Sophia when she was 17, said.

"I keep getting that shame, blame, reject stuff, and I don't need to. I love my child," she added. "There's nothing to regret and ... I love being a young parent still. I love being kind of like an empty nester right now.”

Sophia celebrated her 16th birthday last month. At the time, Abraham penned a sweet tribute to her on Instagram, sharing snaps and clips from a mother-daughter trip to Germany.

"Happiest Sweet 16 to the one & only @sophialabraham 🌟 To the star who made me famous at 16, I love you, I’m excited we’re traveling the world together 🇩🇪 Germany 🇩🇪 this year," Abraham wrote in her caption.

Sophia also shared her own Instagram post from the trip to mark the milestone, writing with her own post, "I’m finally 16 i can’t believe it :) I’m so grateful to be spending my 16th in Germany."

Abraham also told PEOPLE that she is “beyond proud” of Sophia, whose father was her former partner, Derek Underwood, who died in a car accident in 2008, shortly before Farrah gave birth to their daughter.

“Now I look back, and I'm like, 'Oh my God! Why did my parents let me do crazy stuff?' " Abraham joked. "Because my daughter's just so calm, not traumatized, and it's just a beautiful thing."

As for her daughter dating, Abraham said, “There's no concerns with her. She doesn't rush her relationships."

"She doesn't get lost in a fantasy of relationships at her age. She dates long-distance. We fly, they fly in, they're all homeschooled, and it's just so peaceful," the reality star added.

"We all have very healthy boundaries, but we are very close, like close communication," continued Abraham of her relationship with Sophia. "I mean, it's just great. I can't even describe anything better. I'm so blessed."
