Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi chose a cause close to their hearts for their first public event since welcoming their second daughter.

On Thursday, March 6, the couple attended the Borne Wonderland Gala held at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum. They were all smiles as they posed in formal attire, snapping a few pics with Borne CEO David Badcock and founder Mark Johnson.

It was the first official outing for Princess Beatrice, 36, and Edo, 41, since they announced the birth of their second daughter, Athena, who arrived several weeks before her due date. The event was especially meaningful, as Borne is a medical research charity aimed at preventing premature birth and Princess Beatrice was announced as their patron.

“The work that Borne is undertaking is something that is incredibly close and personal to me following the recent birth of my daughter," Beatrice shared at the event, according to Hello!

"Every year in the U.K., 60,000 babies are delivered too soon, with little information or research as to why this is,” she added. “That is why I am really looking forward to supporting Borne and its program of groundbreaking research, which I hope will help thousands of parents and children in the future."

On Jan. 29, Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's elder daughter had welcomed her baby girl a week prior on Jan. 22. The palace had initially announced a due date in early spring.

Edo later took to Instagram to share more about the couple’s bundle of joy, including her full name: Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi.

"We welcomed Baby Athena into our lives last week. She is tiny and absolutely perfect. We are all (including Wolfie and Sienna) already completely besotted with her," he wrote. "Our hearts are overflowing with love for you, baby Athena."

"A massive thank you from my wife and I goes out to all the wonderful staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their exceptional care and support during this incredibly special time," Edo continued, adding prayer, heart and angel emojis.

Athena’s first middle name honors Beatrice's late grandmother Queen Elizabeth and creates a special connection to her big sister Sienna, 3, whose middle name is also Elizabeth.

Beatrice and Edo wed in July 2020, and his son Christopher Woolf (from a previous relationship) adorably served as a page boy at their wedding. The couple went on to welcome their first child, Sienna, in September 2021, and baby Athena made the family a party of five.

Buckingham Palace announced that Beatrice was pregnant in October 2024, sharing that the baby was due in “early spring.” However, she altered her Christmas plans last minute after being advised by doctors to rest, staying home in the U.K. instead of traveling to Italy.

Little Athena has officially been added to the British line of succession and is 11th in line to the throne.
