Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. are still slaying after more than two decades of marriage!

On Sunday, Sept. 1, the ‘90s and 2000s pop culture icons — who met thanks to I Know What You Did Last Summer and wed in 2002 — celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary with a lowkey Instagram post.

Alongside a smiley and cuddly photo of the couple — in which Prinze, 48, wraps his arms around Gellar’s waist — the Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum, 47, penned a simple caption.

"22 @realfreddieprinze,” Gellar wrote, adding a few wedding-themed emojis: “🥂💍👰🏼.”

Gellar and Prinze first crossed paths on the set of their 1997 slasher filmbut it wasn’t love at first sight. While chatting with PEOPLE back in 2001, the She's All That actor admitted that he and Gellar "really didn't dig each other" at first.

But things changed once the actors got to know each other more. "One day I gave her a ride to the gym," Prinze said at the time. “We talked on the way up, and she was a cool chick.”

After forming a strictly platonic bond, the pair’s relationship grew into something more. “We were friends for a good two years before we went on a date. She knew what kind of guy I was," Prinze Jr. previously told E! News. "She knew what my morals were, what my priorities were and vice versa.”

“We already kind of knew all the faults in the other person,” he added.

And their first date together was actually an accident, Gellar revealed to PEOPLE Now in 2020. "We were friends for a very long time. We'd had many dinners before. And we were supposed to go with someone else, and the third person didn't make it out, and we decided to still go," the star recalled.

"We were just two people at dinner catching up,” she added. "We had a long car ride and a long dinner and things just happened."

And after their first date, Prinze said that he knew Gellar was the one. "I didn't go on dates with other girls,” he explained, “nor did I even want to pursue dates with other girls.”

The couple — who share two children, daughter Charlotte, 14, and son Rocky, 11 — appeared on screen together multiple times after I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Gellar made a small cameo in 1999’s She's All That and, perhaps most memorably, the pair brought Fred Jones and Daphne Blake to life in James Gunn’s campy Scooby-Doo films in 2002 and 2004.

While celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2022, the couple took a walk down memory lane, posting photos of their nuptials — and calling out Howard Stern for saying their marriage wouldn’t last.

Ahead of the pair’s 2002 wedding, Stern, 70, asked Prinze, “So you're going to marry Sarah Michelle Gellar, even though you know that won't last?” to which the actor said, "Oh, absolutely it will last.”

While celebrating 20 years, Gellar reposted a screengrab of the moment, tagged Stern and joked, “I think you owe us."

Plus, Prinze piled on to Gellar's post, "She will not forget."
