An influencer unknowingly captured a near-fatal moment while they were traveling in the Philippines.
Last month, content creator Julie — who posts under the TikTok account @julieanddaniel_ with her boyfriend Daniel — shared a clip of moment she sat on a deadly box jellyfish while she was recording a video.
In the clip, Julie could be seen speaking to the camera as she lowered herself into the shallow end of the ocean at a beach.
She then stood up and started walking before suddenly appearing to be in pain and jumping out of the camera's view. The clip then switched to a photo of a large scar on her thigh.
“She doesn’t know it yet but in this moment she sits on a box jellyfish (most venomous on this planet) and suffers excruciating pain that left her with scars (pic at the end) and long-term extreme gut issues,” her caption written across the video reads.

A second clip then featured Julie and her boyfriend Daniel, who were traveling around Asia at the time, on their way to the hospital in Coron, Philippines.
“I didn’t expect today to turn out like this,” Julie said as she lay in a hospital bed. “I was on a lovely island. I didn't even see the jellyfish.”
The video then showed the content creator after she returned from the hospital.
“The pain is like pain I’ve never felt in my life,” she said. “You need to be so careful when you’re out in the sea and to look because I wasn’t looking, I just swam.”

She added, “That’s my first ever experience like this. I think I was screaming for an hour, my voice was gone earlier because I was screaming so much. That’s how bad the pain was.”
The content creator went on to share that she was going to relax after getting a lot of medicine and antihistamines.
“If it was fatal, I would have shown symptoms by now, it’s been about six hours,” she continued. “Thank God everything is okay.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, a person with a severe reaction to a jellyfish sting may need cardiopulmonary resuscitation, life support, or antivenom medication if it's from a box jellyfish.

In a third video, Julie revealed that the incident took place 10 months ago during a boat excursion from Coron to El Nido in the Philippines.
She added that while she didn’t know there would be jellyfish in that area of the ocean due to there being no signs, it was jellyfish season.
And although she didn't feel anything while sat in the water, she said, "When I stood up I felt burning in my thighs and on my butt because that’s where it happened. “

“When the venom spread, I could feel it, it was all in my stomach, my arms, my fingers, my head, my feet,” Julie continued, adding that the site of the sting “felt like a flat iron pressed against me.”
The TikToker added that their tour guide then used something to pick up the jellyfish, which was “the length of a man,” and “completely transparent.”
A doctor and nurse also on the boat excursion then monitored Julie for an hour due to there being a window within that period that her condition could have taken a turn for the worse. After the hour, the medical professionals assured the Tikoker she would be okay but would be in "a lot of pain."
Julie was then taken to the hospital in Coron, which was three hours away from the beach from where she got stung.
