Haliey Welch's screen is getting a little bit bigger.

The 22-year-old influencer, widely known as "Hawk Tuah Girl," first turned heads for her quirky sex tip that circulated on the internet in June 2024. Now, she's the subject of an upcoming documentary.

Emmy-winning production company Bungalow Media + Entertainment is developing the project on Welch, as reported by Deadline. It will explore her wild trajectory from unknown to instant meme after the video she appeared in went viral.

“The documentary will chronicle how Welch, a young woman from a small-town with no active social media presence, unknowingly created a viral moment that gave way into a global phenomenon,” per a plot description shared by the outlet.

"The film explores her unexpected rise to fame, the scrutiny that followed, and exposes the incredible power social media has to crown and crucify its internet darlings," the synopsis continues, per Deadline.

Welch, who was born and raised in Belfast, Tenn., became one of the most talked about people online after her video interview was uploaded by the Tim & Dee TV YouTube channel. It racked up over 40 million impressions in days, while Welch amassed over 3 million followers across social media to date.

"This documentary will serve as both an inspiring and entertaining story of Haliey’s journey, and a lens into what it means to navigate the risks and rewards that come with living in the public’s eye," producer Bob Friedman told Deadline of the project.

The film will also include interviews with Welch and others close to her, per the outlet.

In September 2024, Welch spoke with PEOPLE exclusively for a tell-all interview about her untraditional rise to internet stardom, which unexpectedly solidified her name in the pop culture conversation for months to come.

"It's been hella hectic," Welch said of the whirlwind she's experienced in the last three months since the video she appeared in was first uploaded by creators Tim & Dee TV on Instagram. It has amassed around 20 million views to date.

The question posed? "What’s one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?" Welch's response? "You gotta give ’em that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thang!"

At the time, Welch told PEOPLE that she "hid for two weeks" after her suggestive catchphrase went viral. "I was embarrassed to death to come out of my house," she said.

In the months that followed, Welch embraced the attention that came her way and kickstarted a career in media to keep the viral momentum going. She interacted with celebrities, launched her own podcast, grew her social media platforms and created a dating app.

But just as quickly as she rose, Welch's star dimmed just as fast due to a crypto-related controversy. This adds "another unexpected chapter to her story," according to the upcoming documentary's release.

"I hope y’all been enjoying the crazy stories about ‘my life’ unfold on social media," Welch told Deadline. "First, I was dead. Then pregnant. Now I’m wanted by Interpol and in jail!"

She continued, "Luckily, we’ve been working with Bungalow to start spilling the tea and the truth is actually even more bizarre than you think."
