Alix Earle won't be walking down the aisle anytime soon.
Despite the influencer, 24, teasing a potential engagement to Miami Dolphins wide receiver Braxton Berrios, 29, last month on TikTok, Earle and her boyfriend don't actually plan on getting married for a while.
Just days before TikTok's brief U.S. shutdown, it became a trend for users on the platform to convince their followers to keep up with them on other social media apps, such as Instagram, by igniting speculation about life updates. Earle made her own video following the trend on Jan. 17, hinting to her more than 7 million followers that her relationship status might be changing.

“If you guys don’t follow me on IG you’re never going to see when I get engaged … 💍," she wrote on-screen, adding in the post's caption, "Going to need the Earle girls to see the ring."
Earle recently clarified that the trend was just a joke.
“That was kind of a wild one of me to pull,” Earle told E! News of her cryptic social media post at the GQ Bowl in New Orleans Feb. 7. “But no, nothing right now. [We’re] both focused on our careers and having fun, but it's going great.”
She also told E! News earlier this month that Berrios was supportive of the playful trend, even though it ended up raising "a lot of questions" afterward.
“It was just a fun joke because everyone was posting these outlandish things with TikTok being banned,” she said. “I asked Braxton and he was like, ‘Oh my god, go ahead post it. That's so funny.’ ”
"He was in on it," Earle added. "He wasn't shocked."

The couple sparked romance rumors in March 2023 and confirmed their relationship in July 2023 when they walked the ESPY Awards red carpet hand-in-hand.
When they stepped out on the red carpet together again at the pre-Super Bowl party, Berrios said that any conversations about marriage will be kept private between him and Earle.
“Those conversations are kept between us,” the NFL player teased to E! News at the time, “but no, there’s no timeline.”

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at Media Row in New Orleans earlier this month, Berrios opened up about his relationship with Earle as they recently celebrated the second anniversary of meeting.
Berrios, who turns 30 in October, joked that he's in a phase in his life where he's watching all of his close friends get married. When asked how he's feeling about the future of his relationship with Earle, who he met at a party in February 2023, he replied that things are "feeling great."
"It's been incredible," he told PEOPLE of their relationship, noting that they became closer as he went through his season-ending knee injury last year.
"Truthfully, with the knee injury, it could've gone one of two ways and it brought us a lot closer," he said. "We obviously support each other and I think it means a little bit more when somebody supports you when you need them. This was the time [for that] and the first time in our relationship where I felt like I truly needed [her support] for an extended period of time. She showed up for me then and continues to [today]."
