Tia Mowry Reacts to a Potential Sister, Sister Reboot: 'Never Say Never' (Exclusive)

Tia Mowry isn't sure she wants to revisit her Sister, Sister days.

While speaking exclusively with PEOPLE at a recent Overjoyed launch event in Los Angeles, the actress, 46, addressed the idea of a reboot of the popular '90s family sitcom.

"Yeah, I mean, never say never," she replies. "I'm just a huge believer in that, meaning I don't have a crystal ball, but never say never."

Tia famously starred in the show, which aired from 1994 to 1999, alongside her twin sibling, Tamera Mowry-Housley. The pair portrayed twins who were separated at birth and each adopted by a different parent. After a chance meeting at a shopping mall, Tamera's father Ray Campbell (Tim Reid) allows Tia and her mother Lisa Landry (Jackée Harry) to move into his home so the girls can be together.

While fans may be super keen for a Sister, Sister revival, Tia might prefer that the Landry-Campbell family's TV farewell remain final. "I will say this: It was such a beautiful, amazing show, and a part of me also just wants to leave it there. You know what I mean? Let it be," she explains.

"But it was so wonderful and so amazing. So I feel like, to be honest with you, I also have that feeling as well," Tia continues. "So I'm like, okay, never say never, but it was such a great show and I wouldn't want to mess it up in any kind of way. It's a classic."

Last April, Tia and her TV mom Harry, 68, both took a moment to mark the 30th anniversary of the premiere of Sister, Sister on social media. Tia shared a series of nostalgic throwback photos and clips from the show's set on Instagram as she reflected on the milestone.

"Today is the 30th anniversary of Sister, Sister and I’m so grateful for this show and the experiences it has given me. It was the first time I really believed in myself and my dreams. I remember being on a press tour in New York when the show premiered, feeling like all my hard work and prayers had paid off," the Family Reunion star wrote.

Tia went on to reflect on how the show initially did not get picked up — and how that moment of "rejection" still remains a reminder for her of the importance of perseverance and faith.

"My sister and I faced rejection when our show wasn’t initially picked up, but we didn’t give up. We prayed and were later told the show would be a mid-season replacement," she wrote. "We were back up. Whenever I feel like I get to a place where I want to quit, I go back to that moment and remember that dreams do come true and to keep going and keep believing."

Harry, meanwhile, celebrated the anniversary with a post on X, writing: "30 years since our little show premiered!"

Like Tia, she touched on the fact that the show's cast never could have imagined just how popular the series would become — and still remain decades later. "We didn’t predict this longevity or success, but it should come as no surprise," Harry continued. "When you put love, friendship, identity & heritage at the core of your work, it turns into something everyone can relate to."

Most recently, Tia took fans behind the scenes of her private life in the candid We TV reality series Tia Mowry: My Next Act, which premiered back in October. The show chronicled how the actress has been navigating her split from ex-husband Cory Hardrict — the pair finalized their divorce in April 2023 — and co-parenting their two children, son Cree, 13, and daughter Cairo, 6. It also showcased her journey of rediscovering herself amidst it all.

Tia told PEOPLE at the Overjoyed launch that being vulnerable in allowing cameras into her life at such a raw and emotional time was "all about empowerment."

“Everything that I do, I'm intentional when it comes to my why, so I'm all about empowerment, all about inspiring, all about just helping, educating in any way that I can,” she explains.
