Adele‘s new album doesn’t drop until Friday, but she’s giving fans a sneak peek at one of the songs.
Monday morning, 60 Minutes Australia Tweeted a teaser of their upcoming interview with the British star that included a preview of her new song, “When We Were Young.”
The snippet finds the singer belting the soaring track, which features poignant lyrics:
“Let me photograph you in this light in case it is the last time / We might be exactly like we were before we realized / We’re sad of getting old / It made us restless. I’m so mad I’m getting old / It makes me reckless / It was just like a movie / It was just like a song / When we were young.”
At the end of the live performance, a happily laughing Adele says, “It’s a whole new me.”
As the Grammy winner has already revealed, time is one of the themes of 25.
“I’m making up with myself. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did and never did. But I haven’t got time to hold on to the crumbs of my past like I used to. What’s done is done,” the performer, 27, wrote on Facebook last month.
“Turning 25 was a turning point for me, slap bang in the middle of my twenties,” she added at the time. “Teetering on the edge of being an old adolescent and a fully-fledged adult, I made the decision to go into becoming who I’m going to be forever without a removal van full of my old junk. I miss everything about my past, the good and the bad, but only because it won’t come back.”
The singer – who also plays mum to 3-year-old son Angelo with partner Simon Konecki – has been out of the public eye the past few years but is back in the swing of things promoting 25.
Tuesday, she’ll perform her first U.S. show since 2011 at New York’s Radio City Music Hall (it will air Dec. 14 on a one-hour NBC special). Then, Saturday, she’ll return to SNL as musical guest.
