Post Malone Recalls Being Called a 'One-Hit Wonder' During Coachella Headlining Set, Delivers Inspirational Speech

Malone released his latest studio album, 'F-1 Trillion,' in August of last year

Post Malone dreamed it all ever since he was young... and now he wants fans at Coachella to do the same!

On Sunday, April 13, the "White Iverson" performer took the stage for his headlining set at the music festival in Indio, Calif., and reflected on the past decade of his career.

"Lots of motherf---ers called me a one-hit wonder,” Malone, 29, said before performing his final song, "Sunflower."

“And I just wanted to say that if you don’t believe in yourself, then nobody f---ing else will. No one can f---ing stop you," he continued.

Then, Malone — who released his debut album Stoney in 2016 — told thousands of fans in the crowd that it's "f---ing important" to chase their dreams.

"I want you to keep doing what you f---ing love and love who you love and love what you love and keep doing it and keep f---ing kicking ass because there's no one on this f---ing planet that can tell you s---," Malone said.

He concluded, "It doesn't matter what you want to do in life... do whatever the f--- you want to do and do it as hard as you can. Don't let anybody stop you because nobody can stop you."

Malone is no stranger to the music festival. The singer-songwriter was last on the lineup in 2018 and in 2023 he appeared as a surprise guest during Bad Bunny's headlining set.

During his set, the "Circles" singer played a range of career-spanning hits, in addition to songs from his latest country studio album F-1 Trillion.

When he released F-1 Trillion in August, the song reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The album included his No. 1 single "I Had Some Help" with Morgan Wallen, as well as "Pour Me a Drink" with Blake Shelton, "Guy for That" with Luke Combs and "What Don't Belong to Me."

In August, Malone made an appearance at on Apple Music’s Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen and opened up about how he was embraced by the country music community.

“It's really nice meeting people in Nashville that made me feel so welcome and new friends and kind of building new stuff,” he revealed before adding, “and for once I'm not sad anymore. I'm happy, very happy.”

He also said he made "lifelong friends" — and he'd like to maintain them in the future.

“L.A. is L.A. and working here, I've always felt very distracted and it's nice to go to Nashville and really just meet people who are the best at what they do and who are super kind and super talented.”

He also remarked that in L.A., “it's always like someone wants something from you,” adding, “And that's something I didn't see often in Nashville.” 

“I mean, I'm sure it's somewhere; it's just I think I found a group of really, really good folks,” he continued. “It was such a fresh thing going and watching this band and writing with new people, and I'm so f---ing pumped.”
