KERRY WASHINGTON

Before Scandal changed our Thursday nights forever, Kerry made her Emmys debut in 2011 wearing this shiny red Zuhair Murad couture dress. By 2015, she'd become a full-fledged superstar—and earned enough fashion clout to wear a Marc Jacobs dress that had only been seen on the runway three days prior.
JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS

Yowza! Julia took the plunge in this sexy black gown during her Seinfeld days in 1995, and then wore a Safiyaa gown and Chopard jewelry in 2015. But what's really amazing is how she doesn't seem to have aged a day in the 20 years between these two red carpets.
LILY TOMLIN

Lily won a couple of trophies at the 1974 ceremony in a tied-up floral top and black skirt — and hadn't slowed her fashion momentum one bit in 30 years, wearing a chic black ensemble in 2015.
KERI RUSSELL

Keri had already chopped off her signature Felicity curls when she hit her first Emmys in 1999. When she returned to the red carpet in 2010, she paired her punchy pink dress with a sweet side-bun.
TARAJI P. HENSON

Unlike her Empire alter ego Cookie Lyon, Taraji is all about pure glamour for her Emmys appearances (love you, mean it, Cookie!). In 2008, she chose a strapless black gown, and in 2015, an Alexander Wang dress with edgy chain straps.
CLAIRE DANES

Although Claire won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Angela Chase on My So-Called Life in 1995, she didn't actually attend the Emmys until 2010, when she chose a sparkling Armani Privé dress. Since then she's been a mainstay at the event for her role on Homeland, most recently wearing a chain-adorned purple Prada dress.
ALLISON JANNEY
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():focal(599x0:601x2)/janney-f7ddf87c91db445abf28cad4c17eb293.jpg)
Allison Janney has been to the Emmys so many times, they may as well rename them "the Allisons." Her first nomination — and win — came in 2000 for her role on The West Wing, for which she wore a shimmering gold halter dress. Cut to the 2016 Creative Arts Emmys (yes, she's already been to one this year!), where she wore a plunging deep green Bert Keeter gown.
MAURA TIERNEY

When the E.R. star hit the red carpet as a nominee in 2001, she went for a no-frills suit and red shirt. She returned in 2010 (following her 2009 treatment for breast cancer) looking stunning in a bright red strapless gown.
FELICITY HUFFMAN

From 2003 to 2015, Felicity's dresses went from periwinkle to midnight blue and her hair from blonde to brunette, but one thing remained constant: her super-toned arms.
CONSTANCE ZIMMER

Constance was expecting her daughter when she attended her first Emmys in 2007, wearing a bump-friendly empire-waist red satin dress. In 2013, she went for a totally different look, choosing an Art Deco-inspired black and gold dress.
