Stray Kids Unable to Perform at Global Citizen Festival After Minor Car Accident

Stray Kids will no longer perform at Global Citizen Festival. 

On Wednesday, the K-pop band shared a link on X (formerly known as Twitter) to a statement from their management JYPE that revealed members Hyunjin, Lee Know and Seungmin are recovering from “minor” car crash and are unable to appear at the Sept. 23 music festival. They shared that 3RACHA, the hip-hop trio featuring Stray Kids members Bang Chan, Changbin, HAN, will take the stage at the New York City event instead. 

According to the statement, no one was “seriously injured” but the three stars are being advised not to perform “for the time being.” 

In the statement, JYPE shared, “While returning to their dorms after a schedule on September 20th (Wed), the vehicle carrying Stray Kids members Lee Know, Hyunjin, and Seungmin was involved in a minor collision."

“After the minor collision, Lee Know, Hyunjin, and Seungmin immediately visited a hospital and received a thorough medical examination,” the post continued. “None of the members and accompanying staff in the vehicle were seriously injured, but as they have sustained mild muscle pain and bruises, medical professionals have advised that they receive conservative treatment for the time being.”

JYPE then confirmed “3RACHA of Stray Kids (Bang Chan, Changbin, HAN) will perform at the Global Citizen Festival.”

“We apologize for causing fans to worry with such sudden news,” the statement concluded. “JYPE will place the artists' health as the highest priority, and will provide everything we can to support their recovery.” 

Global Citizen, the advocacy organization behind the action-oriented event, shared their support of the “Thunderous” band and their fanbase on X. “Our support goes out to the members of Stray Kids and our hearts are with Strays everywhere,” the post said, confirming 3RACHA will now take their place.

Global Citizen will be held this Saturday in NYC’s Central Park and feature headliners Anitta, Jungkook of BTS, Ms. Lauryn Hill and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The rest of the lineup is filled out by Conan Gray, D-Nice and Sofia Carson. 

Megan Thee Stallion was previously announced as one of the performers, but according to Variety, pulled out of the event last week due to “unforeseen scheduling conflicts.”

The festival is a free, ticketed event that aims to call on world leaders to address issues such as the climate crisis, equity for women and girls and poverty.
