Phoebe Bridgers Shares Hilarious Reaction to Boygenius Bandmates Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker's Relationship Confirmation

Phoebe Bridgers had a hilarious reaction to her Boygenius bandmates' relationship going public.

After Lucy Dacus confirmed longstanding rumors that she was dating Julien Baker to The New Yorker on Monday, March 17 (which she also confirmed to PEOPLE), the internet was set ablaze with excitement.

On Monday, March 17, PopCrave also shared news of the "Ankles" singer, 29, and "Faith Healer" musician's romance on X, alongside a photo of Boygenius with the "Kyoto" hitmaker's face blurred, while Dacus and Baker's faces remained untouched.

"Lucy Dacus & Julien Baker of Boygenius are dating." the post read.

Not long after PopCrave's post was shared, Bridgers, 30, shared the photo with her face blurred out on her Instagram Story.

Several fans also shared their amusement about the photo choice on X.

"this is so f---ing funny??? like not them blurring phoebe out," one user wrote.

Another commented, "were there no pictures of just lucy and julien."

"this is the funniest way pop crave couldn’t announced this like fully just blurring phoebe instead of using one of the many pictures of just julien and lucy," another user wrote.

"Why does it look like Lucy and Julien k*lled Phoebe because she was getting in the way?" someone else wrote.

In an interview with PEOPLE on Tuesday, March 18, Dacus revealed she and Baker, 29, are dating.

"We are together," she said. "People are right."

She revealed the pair have had a nine-year friendship and through working in Boygenius, their romance was "percolating."

"Obviously, we haven't been dating the whole time," said Dacus of their "sweet" relationship.

She added: "It's funny to just say it so plainly, because I feel like there's all of this tension of people guessing."

Ultimately, they "wanted to be protective."

"It matters so much," said Dacus of her romance with Baker. "I hope to God people knowing won't make it a less true or pleasant experience. So that's one of the many precious things I'm giving up with this record."

She continued: "And she's ready to be telling people, too. So, from us to you, we are in love."

Formed in 2018, Boygenius dropped their self-titled debut EP the same year. In 2023, the three-time Grammy-winning supergroup dropped their critically acclaimed debut studio album The Record in 2023.
