At New York Comic-Con on Oct. 17, the cast and creators of the beloved Disney series gathered to tease what fans should expect from the new season of the show. They also shared a look at the new episodes: a photo showing Phineas, Ferb and their friends on stage. Co-creators and exec producers Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh — who also voice Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz and Major Francis Monogram, respectively — appeared at Comic-Con alongside returning cast members Vincent Martella, David Errigo Jr., Ashley Tisdale, Caroline Rhea, Dee Bradley Baker and Alyson Stoner. Martella voices Phineas and Errigo voices Ferb, two stepbrothers whose summertime adventures are the main thrust of the series. Tisdale voices their sister Candace, Rhea voices their mom, Baker voices Perry the Platypus and Stoner voices Isabella. Disney greenlit 40 new episodes of the series — which will air on the Disney Channel and Disney+ in 2025 — back in 2023. Phineas, Ferb and their friends in an episode of 'Phineas and Ferb'. It is pretty rare that you get a chance to come back and, and do new seasons of the show.” Marsh, 63, said of the new episodes, “One of the most fun things about doing more of these is we have the freedom now to go to explore characters more fully that we didn't get to the first time.” Povenmire, 61, teased, “It's really kind of freeing. It feels very new and fresh, but still feels like the show.” His goal is to make the gap feel seamless, he added; if you watched the show’s fourth season, which concluded in 2015, and this new season back to back, you wouldn’t necessarily notice. “We just want to give you the show that you love and just make more of it,” he explained. “But it feels somehow a little bit elevated because there's so much energy in the room there.” The fifth season will take place just one summer after the events of the last episode. The castmates also used the panel to voice their appreciation for the series. Tisdale, 39, said, “It's my favorite job,” and Stoner, 31, agreed, adding, “And I'm not just saying that 'cause I wanna stay hired.” Marsh revealed that Rhea, 60, would often call the producers after running into fellow actors and pitch casting them as guest stars. “This has definitely been, to me, the most important thing that I've ever worked on,” Martella said. “It means a lot to me that so many people are here right now and people still love this show and these characters. And yeah, Phineas has been a part of my life longer than most things ... It's one-half of my life now, 17 years. That's a long time to know someone.” Close Leave a Comment
