Adam Scott Reveals Severance Superfans Kristen Bell and Dax Shepherd's 'Nasty' Reaction to the Season 2 Finale (Exclusive)

The couple have taken to leaving what Scott called "borderline abusive" voicemails in response to the Apple TV+ series repeated cliffhangers

Severance superfans Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard had a passionate reaction to the season 2 finale, but star Adam Scott is avoiding hearing about it for now.

Scott has become accustomed to hearing Bell and Shepard's uncensored thoughts on the Apple TV+ series and he tells PEOPLE that the couple had a lot to say about the March 21 finale, too.

"I have a voicemail from them and it's very nasty," Scott, 51, told PEOPLE on the red carpet ahead of the show's PaleyFest panel on March 22. "I can't tell you what they said because it's deeply offensive, and I have yet to respond, but I will. I will."

Scott reveals that Bell, 44, and Shepard, 50, "watched the season a little while ago because we gave them some advance screeners so they could come on the podcast and talk about it," referring to his and Ben Stiller's podcast breaking down the thriller series. "They were just lovely. They really loved it."

Of the long-awaited finale more generally, Scott, who plays Mark, says, "We've been watching it for a while and the whole season we've been loving it. And so whenever people watch the end of the season, we're so curious what they thought of it and dying to hear where they came out at the end and what they thought of the ending."

It was "great" to hear Bell and Shepard's reactions, he says, but confirms, "Yes, they did leave deeply offensive message."

Scott previously joked about Bell and Shepard's love for Severance on The Kelly Clarkson Show earlier this month, as host Kelly Clarkson played some of the voicemails he'd received from the couple.

“All right, you son of a bitch, Bell and I just sat here, on the edge of our seat, waiting to find out what happens when you guys come to... Oh, buddy, are we f---ing pissed that this episode just ended,” Shepard said in the voicemail. In the background, Bell yelled, "You losers!"

In another message related to the cliffhanger season 1 ending, Shepard told Scott, “If you’re listening to this message and you’re not on set, f–-- you."

Scott sends his own aggressive voicemails, though, to get back at them, one of which Clarkson also shared.

“Dax, just in response to your unbelievably ridiculous and insulting audio message, not only am I not filming right now, I’m sitting in a jacuzzi, relaxing,” Scott said. “So, so far — so far away from even being close to filming. So I guess what I’m trying to say is, again, eat s–--."
