Kayla Nicole opened up about how she protects her peace.

Nicole, 33, addressed her social media critics during an appearance on WNBA star Cameron Brink's podcast, Straight to Cam, released Monday, March 24.

The Special Forces: World's Toughest Test winner and ex-girlfriend of NFL star Travis Kelce told Brink and her co-host Sydel Curry-Lee that she tunes out the social media hate when it becomes overwhelming.

“That’s my number one go-to, when it becomes too much, I just have to log out," Nicole said. "Because it’s not the real world, there’s life happening beyond the internet."

Nicole, who has been open about receiving cruel messages on social media following Kelce's high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift, said she often receives messages alerting her to vicious discourse on Reddit targeted at her.

"I see someone in my comments at least once a week, like, ‘Girl, they are going in on you on Reddit,' " Nicole shared, questioning why people in her life are "over there on Reddit anyway." She added, “I don’t even look. I can’t."

Nicole went on to say, “I also think people need to start doing psych evaluations before you can create a new Instagram account with a fake profile and a weird picture."

“You should have to be psych evaluated," she said.

“Going through a public breakup, just to be frank, it's been overwhelming. I've never experienced anything like it," Nicole said in a confessional, adding that she was "reduced to a headline to something so small as someone's ex-girlfriend."

In February, Nicole told PEOPLE she's proud of her win on Special Forces because she completed it successfully "with [her] own grit and grind," something that "nobody can take" from her. "My success has been attributed to people that I was in close proximity to," she said. "And that's not anything new for me. That's something that happens to women all the time, especially just in the entertainment industry and public fields."
