JoJo Siwa Dishes on 'Very Mature' Relationship with Partner Kath Ebbs: 'Taught Me So Much' (Exclusive)

Romance is in the air for JoJo Siwa and Kath Ebbs.

After going public with their relationship in January, Siwa and Ebbs (who uses they/them pronouns) attended the 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards together on Thursday, March 27 in Los Angeles, and the "Karma" singer is dishing on their "lovely" bond.

"I am so happy. I am in a very mature relationship, and it's beautiful," Siwa, 21, tells PEOPLE on the red carpet at the event. "It's taught me so much about life. It's taught me so much about love and respect, and it's a beautiful thing."

The former child star previously dated Dakayla Wilson until November 2024, and she says "just about everything" in the relationship with Ebbs, 27, is different from what she's experienced in the past.

"It's different in more ways than I can count," adds Siwa. "I wouldn't even know what to say the biggest is 'cause just everything is so different and special."

One element of the romance took the "Boomerang" performer by surprise. "I remember one day we were sitting in this diner together, and they were speaking to me in a way that I was like, 'How do you know how to speak to me?' I asked them that, and they were like, 'I don't know,'" says Siwa. "And I was like, 'Okay. I don't know how you know to give me this talk right now.'"

The pair went Instagram official in January, with Ebbs writing alongside photos of them at the time, "Bit of queer joy for ya feed today!!"

In a recent interview with the online outlet Pedestrian, Ebbs — who hails from Australia — recalled getting to know Siwa through their mutual friend G Flip.

"They’re really good friends, and one night we just all went and hung out. Then me and Jo were friends for like, six months after that. And then it was weird… how do I explain this story?" the influencer said. "We met through G Flip, and we were friends, and then we turned into lovers ‘cause we would go line dancing together all the time! It was a match made in line dancing heaven."

"I’ve never had such an emotional connection," added Ebbs of Siwa. "Obviously she’s objectively beautiful, but it was just like such an intense emotional connection. We would be on FaceTime like all night — which is the most lesbian thing ever. We’ve literally been inseparable ever since, like U-Haul. Once it was on, we’ve just literally been inseparable."
