Jessica Simpson is sharing the secret behind her smooth vocals.

On Friday, March 28, the singer, 44, posted a candid video on Instagram in which she reveals that she drinks "snake sperm" at the recommendation of her vocal coach.

The video showed Simpson drinking the Chinese herbal drink in a stylish yellow floral dress and a fuzzy blue jacket while explaining its purpose to her confused band.

"They're like, 'What are you drinking?' Because it's this Chinese herb thing," she said. "And I'm like, 'I don't know.' My vocal coach told me to drink it."

The "Blame Me" singer continued to share that her coach looked up the ingredients and found it contains “snake sperm.”

When asked if the unconventional beverage was similar to tea, she compared it to honey.

Ultimately, Simpson said the drink has improved her singing voice. "If you want a good vocal, you got to drink snake sperm," she advised.

The former reality star captioned the video post with three emojis: a microphone, a snake and a test tube filled with a green substance.

Simpson released her new EP, Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1, on March 21. In a post on Instagram celebrating the album release that day, she reflected on how music brings her joy and freedom.

"I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free. His eyes are on the sparrow and I know He watches me. God told me I needed to feel the fear and do it anyway as I’m moving into my truth while embracing the beauty of uncertainty. And so I did...." she wrote in the post's caption.

The singer continued to explain that the EP "is the result of learning to hear my heart again, free from industry expectations. It’s about surrendering, letting my voice be my main guide and trusting the journey ahead."

Last month, Simpson shared in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE that being alcohol-free has changed her as a musical artist.

"The moment I started drinking too much was when I started writing music in 2016, and it was making me go to places and feel sorry for myself," she said. "I don't know why I wanted to feel sorry for myself other than the alcohol was lying to me and saying, 'You're braver because you can say this with me on your side.' "

"It's not true," added Simpson, who celebrated her seven-year anniversary of sobriety in November 2024. "I actually am so much more honest without alcohol, and I actually believe myself so much more without alcohol."
