Everything Gabbriette Bechtel Has Said About Her Relationship with Fiancé Matty Healy

Matty Healy is no longer looking for somebody to love — he’s found his happily ever after with model Gabbriette Bechtel.

The 1975 frontman, 35, and Bechtel, 26, announced their engagement earlier this week, with Bechtel sharing photos of herself flaunting a black gem engagement ring after attending mutual friend Charli XCX’s concert in Brooklyn.

“MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT,” she captioned an image, tagging Healy’s Instagram account and referencing Charli’s new album Brat (The 1975 drummer George Daniel proposed to Charli last November).

Though Healy and Bechtel have kept a low profile since they were first linked in September 2023, the model and former Nasty Cherry singer has occasionally offered insight into their relationship.

In Homme Girls’ spring/summer 2024 issue, she showed a reporter a photo of a high school-aged Healy on her phone, and said that she and the British singer had been trying to meet for four years. The article said that one thing led to another for the pair after Bechtel attended one of his band’s shows last year.

“He came to L.A. and we’ve been in love ever since,” she said, adding that the pair enjoy ordering takeout and playing Fortnite in bed.

And that’s not where their common interests end; last month, Bechtel — who frequently cooks for her nearly 1 million followers on Instagram — told E! News that she and Healy “just both enjoy good food. He’s taught me a lot about food.”

“[We] also have the same taste in music,” she added.

In April, Bechtel and Healy attended Coachella together, as she told Interview magazine that they’d be supporting several artists on Healy’s label Dirty Hit.

“I don’t think either of us are festival people,” she said. “I thought that I was going to be able to wear sandals and my heels and my friends were like, ‘What are you thinking? You can’t bring heels to Coachella.”

As for Healy’s family, Bechtel already has the seal of approval from Healy’s mother, actress Denise Welch.

Welch confirmed the couple’s engagement on her British talk show Loose Women, saying she’s known “for a few weeks” now.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled. We couldn’t be happier — she is everything I would want in a daughter-in-law,” Welch said. “I’m thrilled."

In January, Welch also declared her love for Bechtel as she shared video of her dancing at the family’s Christmas celebrations on Loose Women.

“That’s [Matty's] beautiful girlfriend Gabi, who I’m in love with,” Welch said.
