Drake Gifts $45,000 to Concertgoers on the Same Day as Kendrick Lamar Dissed Him During Super Bowl Halftime Show

Drake and Kendrick Lamar each had a big Sunday — on opposite ends of the world.

During his concert in Melbourne, Australia, on Sunday, Feb. 9, the Drake gave away tens of thousands of dollars to fans in the audience. After the "God's Plan" rapper, 38, saw a fan's sign that read "Adonis for President" in the crowd — referring to his 7-year-old son — he felt generous.

"You’re showing a lot of love to my son," Drake said in a fan video shared on TikTok. "On behalf of me and Adonis … we’re going to give you 25 grand for your family."

Then, pointing to a fan with a sign that said "Kiss Me It's My Birthday," Drake said he would give her $20,000, as well as pay for a birthday dinner for her and her friends and invite her back to the show.

Per Billboard, Drake thanked his fans later on during his Australia concert. "It really touches my heart that — through all of that, you still take your hard-earned money, and you spend some of that money on tickets to this show to see this kid from Canada get up here and talk s---."

"I really appreciate you. I would be nothing without you," he added.

Drake's evening of generosity happened the same night as Lamar's Super Bowl Halftime show during the Philadelphia Eagles' victory against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Lamar, a Pulitzer Prize winner, performed a career-spanning medley of hits, including his Grammy-winning diss track "Not Like Us" aimed at Drake to close out his set.

Before Lamar, 37, performed the scathing song, he said, "I want to play their favorite song, but you know they love to sue," which seemed to allude to the lawsuit Drake filed against Lamar and his own record label, Universal Music Group. Drake alleged defamation against Lamar for accusing him of "being a pedophile" in the infamous track. Lamar changed the lyrics, though, and did not repeat that line during the broadcast; Lamar also wore a necklace with the lowercase letter "a," seemingly referring to the "Not Like Us" lyric, "Tryna strike a chord and it's probably A minor."

"Drake has never engaged in sexual relations with a minor," Drake's legal team claim in legal document obtained by PEOPLE. "Drake has never been charged with, or convicted of, any criminal acts whatsoever."

Regarding the lawsuit, a spokesperson for UMG denied the allegations, previously telling PEOPLE in a statement, “Not only are these claims untrue, but the notion that we would seek to harm the reputation of any artist—let alone Drake—is illogical. We have invested massively in his music and our employees around the world have worked tirelessly for many years to help him achieve historic commercial and personal financial success."

During his halftime set, Lamar also brought out Drake's ex Serena Williams during his show at the Caesars Superdome on Sunday. Drake briefly dated the tennis star in 2011.

Elsewhere during his electrifying Super Bowl appearance, Lamar performed "HUMBLE.," "squabble up" and "peekaboo." His frequent collaborator SZA — who also once had a fling with Drake — joined him onstage for "luther" and "All the Stars."
