Jake Owen Talks About Divorce During Concert: 'I Love My Wife More Than Anything'

Just one day after announcing his split from wife Lacey, Jake Owen opened up about their divorce during a concert on Saturday.

The country star, 32, was performing a Garth Brooks song “The Dance,” when he paused to address the crowd at WE Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

“A lot of people maybe shy away from it, but I think I’m going to do some weird stuff,” he said. “My wife and I are getting a divorce, and this is probably the hardest s— I’ve ever done in my life, to walk on stage every night and try to pretend like everything’s awesome when it really ain’t always awesome. You know what I’m saying?”

The couple were married for three years and have a daughter, Pearl, 2½.

“But thanks to people like you for singing along – you have no idea how much you guys lift me up every single night,” he continued. “And I love my wife more than anything in the world, and I love my little baby girl, Pearl, more than anything in the world. If it wasn’t for both of them, I wouldn’t even be here right now to be a happy man.”

Referring to the title of the song, he added, “That’s a dance that I’m glad I got to dance and I’m glad you guys got to sing it with me tonight.”

The musician announced the couple’s divorce on Twitter on Friday, writing, “This is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life.”
