He shares how the musician has influenced him on Instagram. By Lena Hansen Lena Hansen Lena Hansen is a senior writer at PEOPLE. People Editorial Guidelines Published on January 11, 2018 12:04PM EST Chris Perez has had a lasting impact on actor Jon Seda. Seda made headlines with his role in the 1997 biopic Selena — starring Jennifer Lopez — about the life and death of the late Mexican singer, who was fatally shot 22 years ago. In the popular film, he plays none other than the Tex Mex singer’s widower, Chris Perez, and the two have a friendship today. Perez, who is a Mexican-American musician, has also influenced Seda artistically. On an Instagram post Jan. 4, Seda shared a video of himself playing the electric guitar. Although he admits he is not a master like Perez — the former guitarist for Selena and Los Dinos he portrayed in the film — the actor is hopeful that practice will help him play better. “Long way to go before I sound like my boy @chrispereznow, but a guy can dream right?” his caption reads. Chicago P.D. star Seda also posted a photo on Instagram back on Jan. 23, 2017, sharing a meal with Perez at a seafood restaurant in, well, Chicago. “Hanging with my bro @chrispereznow at #rivachicago, thanks for showing us a great time! @navypierchicago @chicagojustice #friendsforlife,” the actor’s caption reads. The photo of the two together thrilled online fans. “They really do look alike,” one said. “I seriously love that you guys are friends. It’s awesome,” another one wrote. Chris Perez — who honored the memory of his late wife by posting their marriage license on Instagram in celebration of what would have been their 25th wedding anniversary in April 2017 — replied to Seda’s guitar-playing video with encouraging words. “My man, my MAN! Sounding good!” Perez commented on his post. Can we expect a future recording of the two rocking together? Like Seda says: “We can dream, right?” Close
