Meet Omar Epps' 3 Kids: All About the House Alum's Daughters Aiyanna and K'mari and Son Amir

Omar Epps is a proud father of three kids: daughters Aiyanna and K'mari and son Amir.

The Love & Basketball star married R&B group Total singer Keisha Spivey Epps in 2006 after dating for two years. Their first child together, K’mari, was born in 2004, followed by Amir in 2007. Omar welcomed his oldest child, Aiyanna, in a previous relationship in 1999.

In 2016, Omar shared with CBS News that fatherhood has been “an amazing journey.” Looking back at how far his children have come, the House alum said one of the most rewarding parts about being a parent is being able “to help guide young human beings from before they walk.”

"It's part of the fabric of who I am as a human being on this earth," he continued. “Being a father is one of the pillars of who I am as a person."

While Aiyanna and Amir aren’t ones for the spotlight, K’mari has taken an interest in the music industry, just like her famous parents. In August 2024, Keisha posted a sweet tribute on Instagram to celebrate the release of one of K’mari’s singles. “She get it from her mama & her daddy,” she wrote.

Aiyanna Yasmine Epps, 25

Aiyanna Yasmine Epps was born to Omar and his ex-wife, Yusra Salama, on June 2, 1999.

Despite her father's fame, Aiyanna has mainly lived out of the public eye. However, Omar has spoken about how different it was to raise his daughters in comparison to his son, describing it as "night and day" in a 2018 interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“I got three different kids, so that’s three different personalities. There is something with girls — at least in my experience — where there’s this innate connection of the father to have with them,” he explained. With Aiyanna and K’mari, Omar said he’s had to learn how to juggle “a whole different slate of emotions,” whereas with Amir, he just has “so much energy.”

Omar has also supported Aiyanna through the hard times, including the death of her mother. He said Salama’s passing was a “very difficult process” for Aiyanna, who was just a teenager when she died.

“They were very close,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “That’s a void that can never be filled … all we can do is be supportive for her and try to work through as a family and at the same time give her her space, because she feels she needs it because that was her heart, you know.”

For her 23rd birthday in June 2022, Keisha posted a tribute to Aiyanna on Instagram.

“Your compassion & your care for others will always be one of your super strengths. Never stop seeking the rays of the sunlight. It looks beyond good on you,” she captioned a carousel of photos featuring Aiyanna.

She concluded, “Thank you for being you. For being my right hand when I need you.”

K’mari Mae Epps, 20

Omar and Keisha welcomed their first child together, daughter K’mari Mae Epps, on June 4, 2004.

After graduating high school in 2022, K’mari committed to pursuing a career in music like her parents. She released a holiday R&B song called "'Tis The Season" and a single titled “In My Zone” in 2022 and 2024, respectively. In the summer of 2024, K’mari was tapped as an opening act for Xscape and SWV’s co-headlining Queens of R&B tour. She’s currently writing and recording her first EP.

Omar and Keisha are their daughter’s biggest fans. On Instagram in February 2024, Keisha called K’mari “my most favorite singer and song writer in the whole world.”

A proud father, Omar has also publicly praised his kid’s musical talents. “Your angelically soulful expressions thru your voice are magnified by the fact that you’ve been penning all of your own lyrics from the very beginning … I’m so honored to be your father,” he wrote on Instagram the same month.

Most recently, Keisha penned a heartfelt letter to K’mari in honor of her 20th birthday in June 2024.

“Your love & care for your family, your support & love for your friends is truly honorable and admirable,” she wrote in the caption. “You make life a wonderful wonderful place … You make me better K’mari Mae.”

She added that K’mari is the “most thoughtful, beautiful, kind, smart and sweet” daughter.

Amir Epps, 17

Omar and Keisha expanded their family once again with the birth of their son, Amir Epps, on Dec. 25, 2007.

In a tribute for his 16th birthday in December 2023, Keisha referred to her son as “the young lion of our house" on Instagram, adding that he has “a rare soul” and is “smart, brilliant, loving, compassionate, talented, funny, fun, adventurous, curious, super observant,respectful & kind.”

Growing up without a relationship with his own father, Omar opened up in his 2018 memoir, From Fatherless to Fatherhood, on feeling motivated to be the type of dad he didn't have as a kid.

“I’m giving him the blueprint I didn’t necessarily have," Omar said of how he's raising his son during a September 2023 appearance on The View.

He continued, "But I tell him all the time, ‘Look, I’m figuring this out every day like you are. So just take the best of it and get rid of the rest, and put your own spin on it. I’m not to be, like, I'm infallible [and] have all the answers. Pops makes mistakes, too.' "

Now 17, Amir is starting to follow in his father's footsteps, describing himself as an actor and creator in his Instagram bio.
