The pair's split was seemingly confirmed after tennis star Ben Shelton hard launched his relationship with Rodman on Instagram in March 2025. Before quietly calling it quits, Rodman and Benson made their relationship public in May 2024 with a now-deleted post on Instagram. "Trinity squared," the Washington Spirit player wrote alongside a photo where she could be seen cuddling up to Benson. According to East Central University's athletics website, he was selected for the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl in Dallas, recorded 1,036 all-purpose yards and had eight touchdowns in his senior season. But, his love for the sport goes back even earlier. “I have been an athlete my whole life, I remember being out there on a field and being coached by my dad since I was 3 or 4 years old,” he told ECU. “We knew he was special in those little league games,” Benson’s brother Trustin told the Colorado Springs Gazette in 2021. “He also always played with older kids and he showed out then, too. We all pretty much knew he was going to be a pretty good football player. Kids couldn’t catch him." According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, he was nervous that playing at the NCAA Division II level might hurt his chances of playing at a professional level. “Believe it or not, but ECU taught me how to just grind,” Benson told the university's athletics website. “They taught me how to be a hard worker because nothing was going to come easy. Every team in the conference knows that ECU football has the talent every year and it is all about putting it together.” Benson was later named to the All-Great American Conference. Al Johnson, who coached Benson his senior year at East Central, told the Colorado Springs Gazette that he knew reaching the NFL was attainable for Benson. “That’s what I told all the scouts that came through. Just because he went to East Central — your atmosphere and NFL training camp wouldn’t be too big for him,” Johnson told the Colorado Springs Gazette. “I think some guys are just happy to be there. Benson was traded to the Detroit Lions in 2021 and was waived in 2022. He had one more stint on both teams before being signed to the Cleveland Browns practice squad in 2023.
