Who Is Christina Ricci's Husband? All About Mark Hampton

Christina Ricci and her husband, Mark Hampton, are one happy couple.

The Addams Family actress and hairstylist have had a whirlwind romance. After making their relationship Instagram official in July 2021, Ricci and Hampton got married in October of the same year.

They went on to welcome their first child together, a daughter named Cleo, in December 2021. Ricci is also mom to son Freddie, whom she shares with her ex-husband, James Heerdegen.

While Ricci hasn't shared many details about the start of their romance, Hampton is a positive and loving force in her life. In honor of his birthday in 2023, the Yellowjackets star dedicated an Instagram post to Hampton, whom she called "the absolute love of my life."

“Makes me cry thinking about how wonderful you are and how lucky we all are to get to be in your life," she captioned a photo of them in a tropical location. "The amount of love, kindness, warmth and joy you have brought is hard to believe and I am so grateful you were born!!!!!”

So who is Christina Ricci's husband? Here's everything to know about Mark Hampton and his relationship with the actress.

He is a celebrity hairstylist 

Hampton is a celebrity hairstylist who has worked in the industry for over two decades. In his bio on X (formerly Twitter), he describes himself as a “red carpet and runway hairdresser," a profession he's been in since 2000.

Hampton has worked for various brands, like Hugo Boss and Banana Republic, and styled celebrities' hair, including Diane Kruger, Natalie Dormer and, of course, Ricci. Throughout his career, he's worked in different countries and collaborated with magazines such as Harper Bazaar Japan, Elle France and Vogue Italia.

He was interested in doing hair before he left school and started as an apprentice at a Vidal Sassoon hair salon in Cardiff, Wales. In a 2016 interview with Wales Online, Hampton said that he cut his own hair growing up because his family “didn’t have much money.”

“I didn’t know what I wanted to do and I remember a friend said to me about the apprenticeship and said I would love it,” he recalled. “Not many people say positive things to you when you’re young so when he said he thought I would do a great job I went for it.”

He grew up in Great Britain

Hampton grew up in Caerphilly, Wales, with his parents and two sisters. He told Wales Online that he left his hometown when he was 16 to start his apprenticeship job in Cardiff.

“I was happy to work like crazy and then I got the chance to work with a man called Guido, who is one of the most successful hairdressers around,” he said. “I was too energetic to settle down young so I kept going with my career.”

He moved to London, where he worked for 11 years before eventually moving to New York City.

They got married in 2021 

On Oct. 9, 2021, Ricci and Hampton announced on Instagram that they had tied the knot.

"Mr. and Mrs. 💒❤️‍🔥💕," the Yellowjackets star captioned a selfie of herself in a white dress holding a bouquet while Hampton donned a white button-down shirt. "#justmarried 🥰❤️💒❤️🥰," he wrote alongside the same photo on his account.

The couple exchanged wedding vows about three months after they first went Instagram official with their relationship in July 2021, when Ricci posted a sweet birthday tribute to Hampton.

At the time, she shared that he was her "favorite person, gorgeous human, bringer of all things happy, magical and good ♥️♥️♥️."

He is a dad

Two months before their elopement announcement, Ricci and Hampton revealed they were expecting a baby. In August 2021, Ricci shared a photo of a sonogram on Instagram with the caption, “❤️🎉Life keeps getting better.🎉❤️.”

Ricci and Hampton's daughter, Cleopatra Ricci Hampton, was born on Dec. 8, 2021. “My heart has exploded. @riccigrams and baby Cleo are doing fantastic, we’re all resting after such an eventful morning," the new father wrote in the birth announcement featuring a photo of the newborn.

The following month, during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Ricci revealed that Hampton "got so excited" and changed their daughter’s name publicly. The Wednesday cast member shared that it was originally Cleo, and they were in the midst of deciding if it should be the full name Cleopatra when she went into delivery. "'We’ll talk about this later,’ ” Ricci recounted.

But right after the birth of their daughter, Hampton put her name as Cleopatra on Instagram even though they never finished the conversation. “I was like, ‘Oh, I guess her name’s Cleopatra,’ ” she told host Ellen DeGeneres.

Hampton is also a stepdad to Ricci’s son Freddie, whom she shares with ex-husband James Heerdegen. In 2016, Ricci told PEOPLE that having a baby “changed everything” for her.

“It’s made everything in my life actually important and matter,” she said. “I now have to take things seriously, and I never did before. I want to succeed for him. My choices matter more.”

He has changed Ricci’s views on love

In a 2022 interview on Anna Faris’ Unqualified podcast, Ricci opened up about her relationship with Hampton, saying that he shifted the way she thought about love.

“I would say — and this sounds really annoying and cloying and stupid — but I would say the first time I really fell in love in a healthy way is probably this marriage that I’m in now,” she said.

“I think that a lot of my relationships in the past had a lot to do with unhealthy things that I was looking for," Ricci continued. "And I don’t know if you can call [it] love, but I don’t think things that aren’t good for you should be called love.”

Previously, Ricci was married to movie producer Heerdegen, whom she wed in 2013 and filed for divorce from in 2020. The following year, she obtained a domestic-violence restraining order against Heerdegen after she accused him of physical abuse, per court documents obtained by PEOPLE. The actress and movie producer finalized their divorce in 2022.

Ricci was also engaged to comedian Owen Benjamin for one year before calling it off in 2009.

He’s a feminist

Ricci has shared that Hampton is passionate about gender equality. In a 2022 interview with The Guardian, she said that her son Freddie “won’t be able to avoid” having a feminist perspective growing up with her and Hampton.

“My husband, Mark [Hampton], is, I hate to say it because it sounds really obnoxious, a feminist,” she said. “And Freddie is going to see that, and see his working mother.”

She added, “I think he’ll see women in a much more layered, complicated way, just by having grown up watching his mom do all this stuff.”

He supported Ricci at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony

In March 2025, Ricci was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She was joined at the special ceremony in Los Angeles by Hampton, Freddie and Cleopatra.

During her speech, Ricci gave the hairstylist a sweet shout-out, calling him the "most supportive and loving husband."
