Who Is Jennifer Garner’s Boyfriend? All About Businessman John Miller

Jennifer Garner and John Miller have maintained a relatively low-profile relationship despite their high-profile careers.

The 13 Going on 30 actress and the CEO first connected in 2018, shortly after Garner finalized her divorce from Ben Affleck, with whom she shares three children — Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.

The couple were spotted having a date night in the Los Angeles area in August 2024, with a source telling PEOPLE that Garner is "happy with" Miller amid her ex-husband Affleck's divorce from Jennifer Lopez. The pair's relationship has been remarkably under the radar, and despite a brief split in 2020, Garner and Miller rekindled.

“They took a long break from dating, but Jen is very happy that they are back together,” a source told PEOPLE in February 2023.

So, who is John Miller? Here’s everything to know about the businessman and his relationship with Jennifer Garner.

Miller graduated from Stanford Law

Miller graduated from Stanford Law School, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif honor society. He went on to join the California Bar in the Northern District of California.

He’s a businessman and CEO

Miller serves as the chairman of CaliGroup, a technology company that owns the CaliBurger restaurant chain and invests in various tech ventures. He also serves as CEO of CaliGroup’s portfolio company, PopID. 

Under Miller’s leadership, CaliGroup has developed cutting-edge technology, including "Flippy," a burger-flipping robot designed to improve efficiency in the kitchen. According to the company website, it's focused on “using technology to transform the restaurant and retail industries.”

“We really think of ourselves as a technology company that happens to sell cheeseburgers,” Miller said in 2017.

Prior to his involvement with CaliGroup, Miller joined Arrowhead as vice president of intellectual property in 2004. He also co-founded NanoAdvisors, a consulting firm that bridges the gap between nanotechnology researchers and legal, corporate and financial institutions.

Miller is a published author

In addition to his business ventures, Miller has made contributions to the field of nanotechnology through his writing. He co-authored The Handbook of Nanotechnology Business, Policy and Intellectual Property Law in 2004, which provides a comprehensive analysis of the commercial challenges and legal considerations of nanotechnology. 

He has also written numerous articles on legal and policy issues in the field, and Miller’s work has been published in Nanotechnology Law & Business, where he also served as managing editor.

He was previously married and has two kids

Before his relationship with Garner, Miller was married to Caroline Campbell, a violinist who has performed with artists like Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban and Sting. The couple married in 2005 and divorced in 2011, and they share two children. 

Garner and Miller were first linked in 2018 

Garner and Miller began dating in 2018, shortly after Garner finalized her divorce from Affleck.

"Although the divorce was just finalized, Jen has considered herself single for a long time. Dating is just a natural step," a source told PEOPLE at the time. "Jen will always care about Ben and help him be the best dad. She was very ready to move on though.”

Garner and Miller briefly split in 2020

In 2020, the pair reportedly split. In January 2020, Garner told PEOPLE that she was “looking forward to a whole new decade,” adding that “it feels like a fresh start.”

However, by August 2021, Garner and Miller were spotted again in New York City. 

"They have a very special relationship," a source told PEOPLE in February 2023. "It's never been the easiest one though since they both have families," they said, adding that Garner was “very happy” to be back with Miller. 

They’ve made few public appearances together

Garner and Miller have made a concerted effort to keep their relationship out of the public eye.

"She has a lot of fun with him," a source told PEOPLE in February 2023. "They like to date out of the spotlight and often leave L.A. for weekend trips."

One of their first public appearances was in November 2018, when they attended a performance of Dear Evan Hansen in Los Angeles. Since then, they’ve been photographed a handful of times on casual outings in New York City and Los Angeles. 

Miller has also been supportive of Garner’s career, such as attending the premiere of her Apple TV+ series The Last Thing He Told Me in April 2023, but he skipped the red carpet.

A source told PEOPLE in August 2024 that the actress is content in her private relationship with Miller. 

"She's happy with John," they said.
