Idris Elba

Idris Elba is an English actor, producer and musician. He first gained recognition playing Russell "Stringer" Bell on the HBO series The Wire and the titular character on BBC's Luther. Elba's first major leading roles included Daddy's Little Girls (2007), American Gangster (2007), This Christmas (2007), RocknRolla (2008) and Obsessed (2009). Elba achieved critical claim on Luther, earning a Golden Globe in 2012 for best actor. He was also nominated four times for a Primetime Emmy Award for outstanding lead actor for Luther (2011, 2012, 2014 and 2016) and once for guest actor for his work on Showtime's The Big C. He is also a DJ and has collaborated with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Jay-Z, Davido and Koffee. In 2018, Elba was named PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive.
