Despite Seann William Scott and Jennifer Coolidge's onscreen family connection, they never filmed an American Pie scene together.

The Shifting Gears star, 48, recently spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about the ABC sitcom and his famed role as Stifler in the American Pie film franchise.

Coolidge famously played Stifler’s sultry mom, Jeanine, who is pursued by her son’s friend, Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas), in the popular 1999 film and its 2001 sequel.

“I actually never really had any scenes with her,” Scott revealed to PEOPLE. “We were in the same projects, but we never like … I don’t think there was one scene that we actually did together.”

Scott, Coolidge and Thomas starred alongside Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Shannon Elizabeth, Mena Suvari, Natasha Lyonne, Eugene Levy and Molly Cheek in the iconic teen comedy.

Scott added that the Emmy winner, 63, is “a legend,” before confessing he hasn’t “spoken to her in so long," noting that it is “for no other reason other than it's kind of life and how it is in our business.”

“You just kind of finish a project, you go to another one,” he said before adding, “She deserves to be in everything and to be crushing things.”

Since starring in the films, Coolidge starred in the HBO drama The White Lotus and earned a Golden Globe and Emmy for her portrayal of Tanya McQuoid.

While promoting The White Lotus in December 2022, she revealed that her American Pie role helped her in various ways — including romantically.

"It helped my dating life in a way that I can't ever explain," Coolidge told Ariana Grande in a conversation for Entertainment Weekly's Entertainer of the Year issue. "If I hadn't had that movie, I don't think … Well, let's just say it would've been a very dull decade."

As for a fifth installment of the comedy franchise, Scott told PEOPLE he hasn’t heard anything about another American Pie movie, despite rumors. “But recently I've been able to [connect] with Thomas [Ian Nicholas], Tara Reid and Jason Biggs, we kind of reconnected and I'd love to reconnect with everybody,” he said. “I obviously love everybody from the movies.”

“It's impossible to put into words how much they all mean to me. But again, a lot of it is you just go on with life, but yeah we just recently kind of got in touch and it's been great.”

Nicholas, 44, Reid, 49, Klein, 46, and Thomas, 44, also toyed with what a fifth American Pie would be like in the 2020s.

“I think it would be really interesting to see this world, [the world of American Pie] in this world,” Thomas said during a Rhode Island Comic Con panel in November 2024. “How do you make it work now? You cannot make that movie now for so many reasons.”

Reid, however, revealed that she has an idea of how another American Pie might look in the very different atmosphere. “Well, there's a lot of twists,” she said, “Which, I heard about what they wrote in the script, which I'm not going to say it, but I mean, it's really funny. It could work.”
