Reese Witherspoon's Son Deacon Phillippe in Talks to Star in Movie with Liam Neeson

Deacon Phillippe, the son of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, is in talks to make his feature-length film debut alongside Liam Neeson.

On Friday, Aug. 30, Deadline reported that Deacon, 20, may be starring in a brand-new heist film alongside Neeson, 72. Titled 4 Kids Walk into a Bank, the movie will also feature Talia Ryder, Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place), Whitney Peak (Gossip Girl) and Jack Dylan Grazer (It), according to the outlet.

Deadline describes the movie — which is based on Matthew Rosenberg and Tyler Boss' graphic novel of the same name and set to be directed by Frankie Shaw — as a "dark heist comedy."

"Neeson will play ex-bank robber Danny, whose teenage granddaughter Paige (Ryder) means the world to him," according to a synopsis from Deadline. "So when she overhears that his former gang is pulling him back in for one more score to pay a debt, she comes up with the only logical solution: She enlists her three ride-or-die best friends to rob the bank the day before so he doesn’t have to."

This isn't Deacon's first foray into the professional entertainment world. Last year, the college student announced that he was releasing his debut album, titled A New Earth.

The 12-track album debuted in April 2023, during Deacon's first year studying music at New York University. The 20-year-old told PEOPLE at the time that recording it in his dorm while attending school was "one of the most challenging things I ever did."

The young actor previously made his TV debut when he joined the cast of Never Have I Ever for the Netflix series' third season in July 2022. Deacon played Parker, a member of star Devi Vishwakumar’s (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) rival debate team.

The series' creator, Mindy Kaling, previously told Entertainment Tonight that Deacon's mom Witherspoon had been candid with her about his desire to get into acting.

"Reese had told me that he was interested in performing ... and I only had this role that seemed really good for him," Kaling, 45, said soon after Deacon's casting was announced. "He's so super talented, obviously really handsome, but here's this kid who's been raised by two very successful actors and he wanted to learn."

Ryan, 49, spoke about about his son's creative endeavors. In August 2022, he told ET in that he was "so proud" of Deacon.

"I am so proud," Ryan said at the time. "He's about to go to college for music. That's his primary focus. The acting thing he likes to do, and he will do according to what his appetite for it is, but his focus is primarily music."
