Kim Kardashian Is 'Frantically Trying' to Prepare New Baby Nursery: It's the ''Best' Madness'

Kim Kardashian West is excitedly awaiting the arrival of baby No. 4!

The reality star, who is expecting her fourth child via surrogate later this year, told the New York Times in a new article published on Saturday that she is “frantically” preparing a baby nursery for her and husband Kanye West‘s fourth child and second son inside the couple’s $60 million mansion.

“I’m frantically trying to get the room ready,” Kardashian West, 38, said. “It’s madness, but the best madness.”

The newspaper, which noted that the baby is due in May, added that Kardashian West and West keep a “mood board” in their living room featuring “a collection of looks they like, or tweaks they want to make to Kim’s cosmetic, fragrance and accessory lines.”

PEOPLE confirmed in early January that Kardashian West and the rapper, 41, are expecting their fourth child, a boy. The baby on the way will join big siblings Chicago, 14 months, Saint, 3, and North, 5½.

Later that month, Kardashian West confirmed the baby news on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, after Cohen asked if she was “working on another child.”

“We are,” Kardashian West responded. “It’s a boy, I think it’s been out there.”

“I got drunk at our Christmas Eve party and told some people. I can’t remember who I told because I never get drunk,” she added.

Multiple sources previously confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple’s fourth child is a son.

While the KKW Beauty mogul and musician used a surrogate for Chicago, a source previously divulged to PEOPLE that the gestational carrier for their baby boy on the way is a different woman.

“Since they had another embryo, Kim and Kanye always knew they wanted to try and implant that embryo too,” the insider said. “They hoped to work with the same gestational carrier, but it didn’t work out this time. They are working with a second carrier now that is pregnant and will give birth in the spring.”

Kardashian West may have hinted at the sex of her fourth child back in October, during an interview on Ashley Graham‘s podcast Pretty Big Deal, where she talked about how her older daughter was hoping for another brother.

“North acts like an only child at all times. I think she’s a little confused,” said the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star. “She’s beyond jealousy now. She’s just like, ‘It’s my world.’”

She added, “She said to me the other day, ‘Mom … we just need to have another baby brother so that Saint can just leave me alone … so the girls can be on this side of the house and the boys can be on that side of the house.’”

Following the baby news, a source told PEOPLE of the spouses, “They’ve got to be over the moon” about their little one on the way.

“They’ve always talked about wanting four kids: two boys and two girls,” the insider explained of West and Kardashian West. “That’s always been the plan.”
