Hussle was shot by a man named Eric R. Holder. They both grew up in Crenshaw and were allegedly affiliated with the same gang, the Rollin’ 60s, when they were young, per Deputy District Attorney John McKinney.

On March 31, 2019, Holder and his girlfriend, Bryannita Nicholson, were ordering food at a nearby restaurant when they spotted Hussle. Holder then had a conversation with the rapper in the clothing store’s parking lot, which was allegedly about “snitching.”

Witnesses later testified that Hussle had warned Holder about rumors circulating that he had cooperated with law enforcement, though they noted that the conversation appeared calm. After this exchange, Holder left the scene but returned a short time later, armed with a revolver and a semiautomatic handgun.

Surveillance footage, corroborated by eyewitness accounts, showed Holder approaching Hussle and opening fire on him. He then kicked Hussle in the head before fleeing the scene with Nicholson, who was waiting in a nearby car.
