Key Takeaways

  • Old El Paso is expanding its lineup of Tex-Mex dinner kits with two exciting new items.
  • Ideal for those who have busy schedules, these meal kits simplify your favorite dishes with pre-packaged spices and sauces, making it easier than ever to create delicious, satisfying meals in no time.

If your weekly go-tos, like 3-ingredient pasta and roasted chicken, serve their purpose but don’t fully satisfy your inner chef, it’s time to switch things up. While it's always fun to try new dishes, it also often means longer grocery lists and more time in the kitchen, which isn’t always feasible with busy schedules.

Brands like Old El Paso know the struggle and strive to make cooking a rewarding experience, not an inconvenience. According to the brand’s mission, “everyone should be able to create a flavorful family meal, no matter how many things they are juggling.” This is why the New Mexico-founded company has created a range of meal kits to get dinner on the table fast—and without sacrificing taste.

Earlier this month, Old El Paso turned up the heat on microwave-friendly lunches with Tex-Mex Ramen cups. Now, it's expanding its impressive meal kit lineup with two new flavorful offerings.

Old El Paso Introduces Birria Taco Kits and Breakfast Taco Kits

Old El Paso Birria Taco Kits and Breakfast Taco Kits are headed to stores, offering fans a flavorful alternative to their usual Taco Tuesday recipes. For those unfamiliar, birria is traditionally made with slow-roasted, shredded goat. However, many people make beef birria tacos as well. While not particularly complex when it comes to technique, it is a time-consuming dish. Birria can take upwards of three hours to achieve its deep flavor and signature tenderness. Not to mention, you’ll need to make the sauce—a smoky blend of chile peppers, vinegar, and spices—from scratch.

Old El Paso simplified the process by including a packet of dried spices that capture the bold flavors of birria sauce. In addition, each kit includes 10 soft tortillas that you can dip into the cooked sauce and fry until golden brown before filling with your choice of protein. To top it all off, the kit includes a packet of creamy chipotle sauce, which can be used alongside traditional garnishes such as chopped white onion, cilantro, and lime juice. As one fan put it on Instagram, "Birria is going to be revolutionary."

Birria Taco Kits aren’t the only meal solution Old El Paso is launching this spring. The General Mills-owned brand is also introducing Breakfast Taco Kits. Each comes with six tortillas, green chile sauce, and a packet of queso cheese sauce, leaving plenty of room for imagination when it comes to fillings. Whether you go for spicy Southwest breakfast tacos or choose a veggie-filled alternative, this kit is sure to add some excitement to your morning.

The new meal kits are now available in Walmart and are expected to roll out to additional retailers this summer. And since you’re saving time, why not whip up a batch of Mexican rice or fresh homemade guacamole to give your family the full restaurant experience at home
