On Thursday, April 3, the pop megastar released her latest single "End of the World" from her forthcoming visual album Something Beautiful. The track, which was co-written and co-produced by Alvvays' Molly Rankin among others, evokes a timeless flair as Cyrus channels ABBA on the sultry single. "Let's pretend it's not the end of the world / (Oh, oh, oh, oh) The sky is fallin', fallin' like a comet now, oh, oh / Let's pretend it's not the end of the world," the "Jaded musician sings with a syrupy lilt on the song. To celebrate the song, the "Flowers" hitmaker shared an Instagram post featuring a clip of the music video. "'End of the World' arrives with another striking yet simple visual, which brings the project’s unique aesthetic to life," the caption began. "The official video showcases Miley in her element on stage with her microphone in hand, reminiscent of her 2024 GRAMMYs performance." It continued: "Miley is wearing an original custom Mugler by Casey Cadwallader. Each release unfolds as a fully realized artistic vision, blending music, film, and fashion into a singular cinematic experience. The new single 'End of the World' out now." Alongside the single, Cyrus also shared the music video for the song, which features her dancing in a green sequin Mugler dress and writhing on the floor with a microphone while fog floats around her. Cyrus first debuted "End of the World" during her exclusive invite-only performances at the Chateau Marmont, where she experimented with unreleased material for an intimate audience. On Monday, March 31, the Grammy winner shared the first taste of her new album with the eerie song "Prelude." In the song's visual, she sported archival 1997 Thierry Mugler couture, which can be seen in the album's cover art. Cyrus co-directed the music video with Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter, and Benoît Debie managed the cinematography. The "Wrecking Ball" musician's "bold" new album will feature 13 original songs. She also executive-produced the album alongside Shawn Everett.
