Melissa McCarthy Responds to Barbra Streisand's Ozempic Comment: She's a 'Treasure and I Love Her'

Melissa McCarthy is reacting to Barbra Streisand's Instagram comment snafu.

"I think Barbra is a treasure and I love her," McCarthy told a photographer from TMZ on April 30. The answer came after McCarthy was asked if Streisand was "out of line" for asking if the Bridesmaids star had taken Ozempic in a since-deleted comment on Instagram.

Earlier on April 30, Streisand addressed the situation, writing in a statement, "I went on Instagram to see the photos we’d posted of the beautiful flowers I’d received for my birthday! Below them was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy who I sang with on my Encore album.”

“She looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment. I forgot the world is reading!” added Streisand.

On April 29, McCarthy, 53, shared a photo of herself and director Adam Shankman as they attended the Center Theatre Group's CTG The Gala event at the Ahmanson Theatre on April 28 in Los Angeles.

"Pastels only to honor the incredible @matthewbourne13 at the @ctgla gala last night with this fella @adamshankman!!" she wrote in the caption. "Thiiiiis much closer to my dream of dancing on stage."

In the comments, Streisand queried her friend: "Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?" Though deleted, the comment was captured by the Comments By Celebs Instagram account.

McCarthy and Streisand previously met back in 2016 when they performed a duet of the song "Anything You Can Do" as part of Streisand's album Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway.

"I think when she opened the door she had leggings on and lunch meat in her hand. And I was like, none of this is what I expected," the Little Mermaid actress told Entertainment Weekly in June 2023 of meeting Streisand.
