In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the 2025 GLAAD Awards on Thursday, March 27, the pop-country star, 34, revealed that Dreamsicle was "cathartic" for her, but she wasn't trying to make anyone a "villain" on the record. "I feel like if it doesn't feel like a risk, it's probably not worth doing," said Morris of the project. "So I tried to leave enough on the bone to satisfy my healing." The "Circles Around This Town" singer, who filed for divorce from husband Ryan Hurd in October 2023, added, "But also I'm not here to make a villain out of anyone or a hero out of myself. We all have both inside of us, so I just wanted to tell whatever would heal my heart. So that's my aim here." Maren Morris in Los Angeles on March 27, 2025.
