Madison Prewett is opening up about all the ups and downs that come with being a first-time mom.

On the recent episode of her Stay True podcast, the Bachelor alum, 28, and her husband Grant Troutt sat down to talk about their birth story. The couple, who welcomed their first baby together, daughter Hosanna Rose Troutt, in January, talked about everything from the moments before the delivery to the first few days at home. The newly minted mom described certain aspects of the transition into motherhood as both "beautiful" and "hard."

"That was a hard journey that was really really challenging," she said, referring to her breastfeeding experience. "There was two days that she didn't pee or poop, which is really really scary."

"At that point, she's like four or five days old, so she should be having like four or five pee or poop diapers a day and so for her to have none for almost two days straight was really really scary, and so I'm having a meltdown and breakdown," she continued. "I'm like what's going on? Am I not producing enough milk? Is she not liking my milk? Is something wrong with her? Is she sick? We just we didn't know what was going on."

The former reality TV star turned to other moms for support in this moment, reaching out to her cousin, who's a mom of two.

“I said, ‘Hey, this is what’s going on, I might have to put her on formula,' ” Prewett continued. “She’s only a few days old, I really don’t want to have to do that. Because the beauty of breastfeeding is just so good for the baby. Nothing against formula, but I really did not want to have to give her formula. Like, I really wanted for her to have the milk that is God-designed inside of me.”

Prewett recalled feeling "upset" by the situation, and then her cousin came up with a potential solution to her problem. "She was like, 'Hey I don't know if this makes you feel weird, but if you don't want to give her formula, I have frozen breast milk and you can just like thaw that out, put it in a bottle and give that to her and then that should like change everything."

For Prewett, that moment changed a lot for her because she said it allowed her to "start processing" everything that was happening. She described the time when she was finally able to cry as an "overwhelming worshipful crazy thank you Lord" experience that had "all kind of feelings."
