Kelly Ripa is sharing one of her non-negotiable relationship rules.

On the Feb. 11 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Ripa and her husband and co-host Mark Consuelos discussed a Life360 piece about a “new relationship deal breaker.” When they realized it was about couples sharing locations with one another, Consuelos revealed that’s something he and Ripa don’t do.

“No, the last thing I want to know is where you are at all times,” she said. “I don’t need to know that. I know where you are here and that’s enough for me.”

“I’m upstairs. If you’re looking for me, I’m upstairs, in my den,” Consuelos added.

As they continued reading the article, the couple — who have been married for 28 years — discussed whether a person’s strong opposition to sharing their location meant they had something “to hide.”

“I think it’s a little weird if somebody asks you — if you’re dating and they ask you for your location,” Consuelos said. “It’s something that I think the person should offer to you. ‘Hey, I’m going to share my location with you.’”

“I just want to know why you would need to know that,” Ripa questioned.

The show’s producer, Michael Gelman, then chimed in to say that he has his location shared with his wife and family, noting: “It’s very convenient.”

“Where do they think you are though?” Ripa asked. “I can tell them where you are.”

Gelmen explained: “So, I’m like, ‘Where is he?’ If I’m late for something and they go, ‘Oh, he’s five minutes away.’ Or the same thing, you don’t want to call them when they’re at work so you go, ‘Oh, they’re home, I’ll call.’”

“Yeah, 21% of the respondents to the survey said it’s a deal breaker if their partner isn’t willing to share their location!” Consuelos said, referring to the blog's poll, which had been picked up by The Wall Street Journal.

Still, Ripa claimed that her own deal breaker is exactly the opposite: “To me, it’s a deal breaker for me if you need to know where I am. I’m where I told you I am, and you don’t need to know anything.”

Gelman noted that “a lot of friend groups” also exchange locations, which Consuelos joked was probably “so they can find out who is having a party without them.”

But Gelman defended his stance: “No, so you’re in a certain location, you’re downtown and you go, ‘Oh, so and so is at the bar next door.’”

“Well maybe they don’t want you to know that,” Consuelos continued, and Gelman replied: “Then you don’t share your location! Or you can mute it!”

Ripa went on to recall the one time sharing her location might have come in handy.

“I got lost once. I was hiking. I got lost,” she revealed and Consuelos added, “Which I told you not to do."

“I know, I went hiking by myself in Colorado and he said ‘Don’t do it’ and I said, ‘I know where I am,’ and of course, I got lost,” she recalled. “And Mark said, ‘Share your location with me’ and this is where it was a generational divide where I became my grandmother. Mark was like, ‘Share your location with me and I’ll guide you home,’ but I could not do that.”

“You walked me through it but it was very stressful for us,” she concluded.
