Photo: Venturelli/WireImage Harvey Weinstein was permanently banned from the Vanity Fair Oscars party long before his controversies. In Graydon Carter's new memoir When the Going Was Good, which is now out, the outlet's former editor-in-chief wrote that Weinstein, 73, was the only person banned from the party for life after he "regularly showed up with more guests than his invitation indicated and would bully the staff." Carter wrote that when he originally confronted the former producer, he threatened to bar Weinstein forever if he continued to behave rudely toward his employees. "It was both the correct thing to do and a foolish gesture, in that he was certifiably the reigning producer in Hollywood at the time and he could tell the stars in his films to give us a wide berth on Oscar night," Carter wrote. Elsewhere in the book, Carter described banning Weinstein from all Vanity Fair events for life after he "lashed out at" Sara Marks, the party's lead organizer.
