Ali Wong Wears 5-Inch Platform Heels on Emmys Red Carpet Despite Knee Injury: 'They're Insane'

Ali Wong isn't letting a little injury interfere with her footwear.

On the Emmy Awards red carpet on Monday night, the Beef star revealed to E! host Heather McMahan that she chose her shoes because of a knee injury.

"I'm nursing a knee injury," Wong told McMahan after showing off her custom Louis Vuitton gown. She then lifted up her skirt slightly to show off her black Brandon Blackwood platform heels. "I had to wear, like, heel platforms. These add about five inches. They're insane."

Wong, who is nominated at Monday night's show for outstanding actress in a limited series or a movie for her role in Beef, wore a custom Louis Vuitton dress that was covered in silver beading on the bodice and a burst of colorful beaded flowers on the skirt.

She accessorized the gown with Chopard jewels including earrings with 36.44-carats of diamonds and a ring with 10.76-carats of diamonds.

At last night's Critics Choice Awards — where Wong also took home the trophy for her role in Beef — the actress wore a gorgeous green Givenchy gown, but her jewels stole the show.

The actress and her stylist, Tara Swennen, decked out the elegant floral ensemble with $238,000 worth of jewelry from Jared Atelier's collaboration with Shy Dayan. 

Accessorizing the square neckline of Wong's dress was a necklace made of pear-shaped emeralds and diamonds (totaling over 18K!) from the Jared Atelier x Shy collection. She also teamed the ensemble with a platinum marquise-cut diamond ring and princess-cut diamond drop earrings.

Over on Instagram, Swennen gave a behind-the-scenes look of Wong’s getting-ready process, and in the clip showed how devoted they were to the diamonds and their sparkle. ”It’s all in the details,” she wrote. 

The details also included Wong's glowing glam, done by makeup artist Daniel Martin, and her glossy waves (clipped with a Jennifer Behr "Virginia" bow) styled by Clayton Hawkins.
