Chappell Roan went from the "Pink Pony Club" to the New World Stages over the weekend, as she paid a visit to the Off-Broadway hit DRAG: The Musical.
The Grammy Award winner, 27, stepped out in New York City on Sunday, April 6 to visit the sequin-studded extravaganza, which features a cast made up of the biggest drag queens in the business including RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars winner Alaska Thunderf---, as well as Jan Sport, Jujubee, Lagoona Bloo and Luxx Noir London.
Of course, Roan herself is a global superstar, so she traveled to the theater in disguise.
"She was totally incognito," a source on the scene tells PEOPLE. "She arrived in a cloak with her signature red locks covered by its hood, so nobody recognized her going in. It was like something out of The Traitors!"

Roan wasn't hiding after the show, however, with photographers snapping as she visited with the cast and crew backstage.
"There was so much love in the room," the insider says. "Chappell couldn't have been kinder or more generous. She was very personable with the cast, and told them all how much she loved the performance. She even recited lines and moments from the show back to them!"
"Everyone was so appreciative of her support," the source continues. "She stayed and had a good kiki with everyone afterwards."

Among the pictures taken were solo shots of Roan with Nick Laughlin, who plays bearded drag queen "Puss Puss DuBois" in the show. The two have a previous friendship, and mutual pal Kyle Goold — Roan's guitarist and musical collaborator — attended the musical with the singer.
Theater vet Nick Adams, DRAG: The Musical's co-lead, also posed with Roan, flexing his muscles for the camera.
DRAG: The Musical is currently in performances through April 27. It opened on Oct. 21, 2024 to rave reviews and at the time of closing, will have played 215 performances and 24 previews.
Additional principal cast members include Lisa Helmi Johanson, Eddie Korbich, Beau Coddou, Dylan Patterson, Adam Pascal and Tamkia Lawrence. The ensemble is made up of Cameron Mitchell Bell, Peli Naomi Woods, Kodiak Thompson, Nicholas Kraft, Teddy Wilson Jr and Adrian Villegas.

The hilarious comedy — directed and choreographed by Spencer Liff (Broadway's Hedwig and the Angry Inch, TV's So You Think You Can Dance) — tells the story of two warring drag clubs run by a pair of estranged queens engulfed in a bitter spat. Competing for supremacy in a wig-snatching battle of wits, the two find themselves on a journey of "fashion, family and forgiveness" as they work to save their drag houses.
Alaska, 40, doesn't just star in the musical, she also wrote its book as well as the music alongside multi-platinum songwriter Tomas Costanza and chart-topping songstress Ashley Gordon. Liza Minnelli is producing, and does the pre-show announcement.
"[This] was not on my bingo card when I first started drag, that's for sure," Alaska told PEOPLE in November, of making the musical. "When I was in college I studied theater, so I was around all that... but I was always attracted to the more weird, wacko side musicals. ... But then fast-forward to seven years ago, or eight years, whatever, Tomas and Ashley, who I'd been making music with for a while, they were like, 'Do you want to work on this musical with us?' and I was like, 'Sure. Why not?' "
"I never could have predicted that it would become this amazing, wonderful thing that it has," she added.

As for Roan, she's been a vocal supporter of drag throughout the years, even featuring queens as her concert openers to celebrate the art form when drag bans and anti-LGBTQ+ legislation is at its height.
"It's just a great way to engage the local queer community to that city,” she explained to PEOPLE in a September 2023 interview. "I encourage people to tip the queens, that's redistributing funds within the community there, and also it just gives a platform for the drag queens. Some of these queens have never performed in front of a crowd that big before, and it's just fun."
She also explained that when crafting her celebrated debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, she was inspired by drag shows (among other things). She called the LP — which features the hit song "HOT TO GO!" — "just daydreams in drag."
Tickets for DRAG: The Musical are now on sale.
