Katrina Bowden's Advice for Newlyweds: 'Don't Try Too Hard'

Newlyweds, listen up: Katrina Bowden has some advice for you.

The former 30 Rock actress, who tied the knot with longtime beau Ben Jorgensen in May of last year, shared her keys to marital success with PEOPLE at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball in New York City on Tuesday evening.

“Don’t try too hard,” she said when asked for her number-one tip. “Be there for each other. Don’t lose sight of why you’re together and why you love each other.”

She quickly clarified: “That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try at all, though!”

It was the 26-year-old’s first time at the annual charity ball, which seeks to raise money for children in need.

“I’m really proud to be here and support them,” said Bowden, who attended with her musician husband.

So is she looking forward to having kids of her own one day?

“Maybe sometime down the line,” the actress said. “Not anytime soon, but I think eventually.”
