Everything to Know About And Just Like That... Season 3 — Including Where Carrie and Aidan’s Relationship Stands

Time to shake up a fresh round of cosmos because the countdown to And Just Like That... season 3 has begun.

On April 15, Max debuted the trailer for the highly-anticipated new season of the Sex and the City sequel series. After And Just Like That... first premiered in Dec. 2021, it returned for a second season in June 2023. Before season 2 episodes finished airing, the streamer renewed it for a third installment.

"We are thrilled to spend more time in the Sex and the City universe telling new stories about the lives of these relatable and aspirational characters played by these amazing actors," executive producer Michael Patrick King said upon the season 3 news. "And Just Like That... Here comes season three."

The trailer for the upcoming season teases a new beginning for Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her circle of friends. While the columnist gets used to her luxurious Gramercy Park townhouse, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) admits she likes a woman who is her "work contact" and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) navigates being a mother to her teenage children.

Meanwhile, Aidan (John Corbett) is still in the picture, but living out of town — and keeping things romantically complicated for Carrie.

When does And Just Like That... season 3 premiere?

And Just Like That... season 3 premieres May 29 on Max at 9 p.m. EST. The third season will consist of 12 episodes, with new installments dropping every Thursday, leading up to the finale on Aug. 14, according to Max.

The season 3 premiere, titled "Outlook Good," was written and directed by King, per the show's IMDb.

What will And Just Like That... season 3 be about?

While exact plot details of And Just Like That... season 3 are still unknown, the trailer promises fierce fashion, friendships and complicated new love interests.

The preview shows what Carrie Bradshaw (Parker) has been up to, including enjoying life in her fabulous (but rat-infested!) Gramercy Park townhouse, writing a fiction book and figuring out her romantic situationship with Aidan Shaw (Corbett).

"There's nothing like summer in New York City, with its hot days and even hotter nights. Something new and unexpected always awaits," Carrie says in the trailer. "Life is a story we get to write every day, and when the plot twists, we can choose to embrace a new chapter."

In a January 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner King teased, "The phrase that I would use for season 3 is 'new.' It’s new everything.”

Who is in the cast for And Just Like That... season 3?

Parker, Nixon and Davis will reprise their beloved Sex and the City characters — Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbs and Charlotte York Goldenblatt, respectively.

The rest of the returning cast includes Corbett, Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, Mario Cantone, Cathy Ang, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, Christopher Jackson, Niall Cunningham, Sebastiano Pigazzi, Alexa Swinton and Dolly Wells.

There are also some new New Yorkers this new season. Rosie O’Donnell is in the first episode, playing a character named Mary. Meanwhile, Cheri Oteri, Mehcad Brooks, Jonathan Cake and Logan Marshall-Green will also make appearances, along with Bob's Burgers' Kristen Schaal.

Rosemarie DeWitt will be back as Aidan's ex-wife, Kathy, with showrunner King also revealing that Broadway legend Patti LuPone will "have an arc" this season.

Karen Pittman, who portrayed Miranda's friend Nya Wallace in the first two seasons, will not return due to the actress' scheduling conflicts. Pittman was already a series regular on Apple TV+'s The Morning Show and is part of the cast for the new Netflix original series Forever.

Sara Ramírez, who played comedian Che Diaz, also departed the series. Miranda and Che dated but broke up in season 2, episode 6. The two eventually made amends at Carrie's dinner party.

In February 2024, Deadline reported that "Che’s story had concluded, and Ramírez would not be returning for season 3."

What happened at the end of And Just Like That… season 2?

The season 2 finale of And Just Like That... was monumental for Sex and the City fans. Not only did it feature a cameo by Kim Cattrall's iconic character Samantha Jones, but it also had Carrie saying goodbye to her Upper East Side apartment with a lavish "Last Supper."

The episode ended with Carrie agreeing to a five-year break with Aidan, then jetting off with Seema (Choudhury) to sip cosmos on a beach in Greece.

"Dating at 50 is an interesting thing," showrunner King told Entertainment Weekly. "We have married characters, we have single characters, we have characters trying to work their current relationships out. It is kind of a maze of how you move through the world at this point in your life."
